Everything you need to know about ordering, pricing, permits and installing a steel building.
A steel building is a structure manufactured and installed with steel. It may include some non-metal material such as wood, but it is mainly or entirely made of galvanized steel or red iron (I-beam). We do not offer wood or red-iron buildings.
We're based in Wisconsin but serve all Midwest states, with industry-leading installation times across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, Indiana and Ohio.
Most structures are installed in a single day by our certified crew; lead time from order to install is 2–4 weeks across all 7 states. Custom accessories and weather can affect the timeline.
It depends on your local township or city. They consider the dimensions of your building, the base (concrete, asphalt or ground) and where it sits on your property. We provide permit research at no extra cost before your order is placed.

We offer two roof styles: A-Frame Horizontal and A-Frame Vertical. The Horizontal is considered the 'Better' option and the Vertical the 'Best', due to variables like maintenance and overall aesthetics.
Vertical siding is an excellent option for residential or commercial buildings. It is an upgrade because it requires more material, girts, to support the metal panels.
They are two options of square tubing for your framework. 14-gauge (2½ x 2½) is the standard. 12-gauge is available at an additional cost: although smaller, it is thicker steel and offers an extended rust-through warranty.
It's a personal preference. Variables to consider include color options, material, pricing, durability and automation. Each product has its pros and cons depending on your project.
Anchors reinforce and secure your steel building to the ground. The type depends on the base: concrete anchors for concrete, asphalt anchors for asphalt, and so on. Anchors also help certify your building's wind rating.
It's a personal preference, and both options have pros and cons. We highly recommend checking with your township for area requirements before deciding which route is best for your needs.

Yes, steel buildings experience condensation due to temperature fluctuations between the air and the steel. Untreated moisture can cause issues like mold, but insulation and ventilation packages help minimize or eliminate it.
Some contractors offer metal buildings as a kit to install on your own time. Currently, Wisconsin Carports does not offer this option, in order to maintain our warranties, quality and craftsmanship with full installation included.
